Evaluation Question 4

Why would they watch your film? What would appeal to them?

AGE : I done a survey and asked for the peoples ages and roundabout it was mainly under 18s that completed this thriller survey. This is what helped us to produce our thriller knowing what range age group liked what in thrillers.

as you can see i have done a survey in order to find out if my thriller idea will fit my specific audiences needs and what i need to include. From the responses i have collected majority have stated they like the suspense from a thriller movie and that is a criteria i have accomplished. Also they have said that their favourite thriller is taken and this fits my thrillers needs as I wanted A Done Deal to have some resemblance with Taken , i have successfully done this because in my thriller opening i have included some conventions that have been included in Taken , also the plot is similar and the man's daughter being kidnapped.

Evaluation Question 5

How did you attract/address your audience?

This is our "Focus Group "

^ From this we gathered what we needed to include in our thriller.
Also another way we attracted audiences attention was that we did not use just one type of ethnic background, no racism.

Why would they want to watch your film?

the responses show that cliffhangers and suspense are the most effective in thrillers to the audience , so that is what i have included in A Done Deal (my thriller) where the protagonist is being stalked/chased by the antagonist , this links with the type of audience my thriller can attract :

mainly young teenagers watch thrillers and this fits in perfectly with my thriller because the characters in my thriller are teenagers, so this will result in the young audience wanting to watch it to see what is stereotyped about them as a whole. in my thriller the antagonist is a male figure and protagonist is a young girl. So the young audience relate to this because they feel sympathy for the vulnerable girl , so this will lead to them wanting to finish off the thriller to see what happens to the girl.

Why would they want to carry on watching after you initial 3 minute opening?

Im certain my audience will carry on watching the rest of my thriller because it includes all the conventions of a thriller that they had asked for on my questionnaire, which were cliffhangers and suspense.

Also i published my thriller opening on my friends facebook (social networking site) in order to get feedback for our opening and these are the comments i received :

From my audience's response i know they would continue watching. Also one commenter stated ' i like how you could see things from her point of view' this part was really effective I the protagonist was running whilst holding the camera in order to create that real effect to the audience to make them feel like they are in my shoes and i added in diegetic sound which was my own breathing this showed the fear in my voice and how heavily i was breathing this increased tension drastically.

Another commenter ' loved the last bit' , the ending of my thriller opening was on a cliffhanger where the protagonist was pushed into a car and droven away but we don't know what will happen to her next, so to know that it was effective and people enjoyed it would leave my audience on their end of their seats !
