Suspense

Suspense
Suspense is building up to something and allowing the audience to question what will or could happen next, so therefore suspense is a long patiently build up to an exciting scene happening.
an example of this is in the film Sabotage in 1936 by Alfred Hitchcock displays an understanding of suspense. A young boy is told to deliver a package to a certain place ,by a certain time. He is not aware that the package holds a bomb within. The boy's journey creates a build up of tension and suspense, as the audience knows more than what the young boy knows. Questions that are created in are head such as; Will the boy arrive at the train station on time? Will the boy die? what will happen to people surrounding the boy?

Unknown

Unknown

a man awakens from a coma, and he discovers that his identity has been stolen and noone believes him. He gets help from a young women to help his search and film his true identity and to prove it to everyone.

In the movie there are some key scenes of tension and these essential characterisyics are good of a thriller e.g.

- The hospital scene reaching for scissors leading to murder
the soundtrack was very effective with the disorientating sounds
and the fast editing leading up to the escape.

- The club scene , when Dr. Martin Harris enters the loud booming soundtrack  is disorientating and threatening. the screen is dark only some shadows shown- indistinct this creates unawareness for both viewers to feel the main characters confusion.

-The chase scene:
The fast editing and soundtrack its a good thriller convention it creates adrenaline for the audience, and gets them excited in watching it and feel like they are involved.
